TRAINING CLASS SCHEDULE Class Registration Form
Our training philosophy: We believe training should be based on a relationship of trust, not fear. For that reason, we use positive reinforcement, redirection and luring to train dogs at the lodge. The use of physical corrections and other aversive training methods (choke chains, prong collars, etc.) are prohibited in our training programs.
Extra Credit Fridays starting March 11th 7:00 PM Open training sessions for humans and dogs with one of our trainers. Work on any command or trick you choose! $15 introductory pricing No prior registration required. We must have vaccination records on file.
NEW! Freestyle Saturday, March 12 - April 2, 2011 2:00 - 3:00 PM $80 - includes treats and written materials This class is otherwise known as "Dances with the Dogs." Teach your dog a dance routine, just like those you've seen online. This is a fun way to spend time with your best friend, impress your friends and family, and to get some exercise.
New! Focus Tuesday, February 22 - March 15, 2011 7:00 - 8:00 PM $95 - includes treats and written materials This class is for dogs who are easily distracted while in public. Learn how to keep your dog's attention on you.
Walk With Me Saturday, March 12 - 26, 2011 12:30 - 1:30 PM $60 - includes treats and written materials Does your dog need help with leash manners? In this class, we work on proper leash manners, especially in distracting situations. We will train at the lodge and around town. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.
Calling All Canines! Thursday, February 24 - March 17, 2011 7:00 - 8:00 PM $80 - includes treats and written materials Does your dog have trouble remembering how to come when called? We'll teach you how to make your dog come to you every time you call.
Dog Obedience for Kids (ages 8-15) Saturday. February 12 - March 5, 2011 12:30 - 1:30 PM $80 - includes treats and written materials Why should grown ups have all the fun? In this class, the kids are in charge. We cover basic obedience and good dog manners in this class. This class is open to dogs over 6 months of age and children ages 8-15. A parent/guardian must be present during class, but the children will be the primary handler of the dogs.
Puppy Kindergarten Class Saturday, February 12 - March 5, 2011 2:00 - 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 22 - April 12, 2011 7:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 20 - May 11, 2011 7:00 - 8:00 PM $80 - includes treats and written materials We concentrate on socialization and basic manners. Your puppy will learn: sit, down, shake, come, and stay. An open play time is also included in each class. Puppy Kindergarten is open to all puppies up to 6 months old, but we recommend puppies get started by 4 months. Puppies must be up to date on vaccines - at least 10 days beyond their first Distemper and Bordetella vaccines. Rabies is required when age appropriate. A negative fecal exam is also required.
The entire family is encouraged to attend puppy kindergarten class together.
Elementary School Monday, February 28 - April 4, 2011 7:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 20 - May 25, 2011 8:00 - 9:00 PM $120 - includes treats and written materials Topics and commands covered in class include: sit, down, come, stay, heel, tricks and leash manners. Optional play sessions are included at the end of each class.
Elementary School is open to all dogs 6 months of age and older. (It is never too late to start training.) Graduates of Puppy Kindergarten are welcome to start prior to 6 months with recommendation of your PK instructor. Dogs must be up to date on vaccines: Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella. A negative fecal exam is also required.
Tricks & Games Class Thursday, March 24 - April 14, 2011 7:00 - 8:00 PM $80 - includes treats and written materials Old and young dogs can learn new tricks. This fun class is a way to continue training after basic obedience class. Basic manners will be reinforced while also learning fun new ways for you and your dog to show off to friends and families. Tricks covered in class include: Roll over, bow, crawl, peek-a-boo, and many more.
Canine Good Citizen Class Tuesday, April 26 - May 31, 2011 7:00 - 8:00 PM $150 - includes class and test $20 - test only on June 7, 2011 7:00 PM This two part program stresses responsible pet ownership, and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs must pass a 10 step test held during the last class to receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. For additional information on the CGC program, visit www.akc.org. Dogs must be up to date on vaccines: Distemper, Bordetella, and Rabies. A negative fecal exam is also required.
Reactive Dog / Focus Class Orientation - Thursday, April 7, 2011 Class - Thursday, April 21 - May 19, 2011 7:30 - 8:30 PM Orientation - Saturday, May 7, 2011 Class - Saturday, May 14 - June 11, 2011 12:30-1:30 PM $150 - includes treats and written materials The goal of this class is to achieve focus from your dog, which in turn helps your dog react less to other dogs. You will learn to redirect your dog's energy and attention to you. You will be in a class with others who understand your dog's situation, because they are going through it too.
Dogs are not to attend the orientation. Children under 14 will not be allowed in this class. Dogs must be up to date on vaccines: Distemper, Bordetella and Rabies.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We cannot guarantee that all dogs will stop their reactive behavior. This class is designed to give you the tools to get you started on a program that can take months of hard work and dedication.
NEW! REACTIVE REFRESHER Sunday, April 24, 2011 1:00 - 3:00 PM Open to dogs who have completed our Reactive Dog class and would like to continue working with our trainers.
