The entire staff of Cold Nose Lodge is made up of dog professionals. We have a great mix of veterinary technicians, trainers, shelter volunteers and petsitters.
Rayne is originally from San Diego, California but has spent most of her life living in Virginia. Her father was in the Navy, so she has also spent time in South Carolina and Connecticut. She now lives in the beautiful countryside in Hereford, PA. She is the proud mother of two children and four dogs.
Rayne worked for eight years in video and web cast production in the Washington, DC area following college. Her former clients include MTV, NASA, Exxon/Mobil, and Defenders of Wildlife. She then made a big career change and went back to school to join the veterinary profession. She became a Licensed Veterinary Technician and dog trainer in 2004.
She received her BS in Communications from James Madison University in 1995, and an AAS in Veterinary Technology from Northern Virginia Community College in 2004. She has also completed Purdue University’s DOGS course and the Canine Training and Management Program at Kutztown University.
Rayne is active in animal welfare and rescue. She was the Public and Community Relations Coordinator for Loudoun County Animal Care and Control in Virginia before relocating to Pennsylvania. She continues her work with animals in need through awareness events and fundraisers for local rescue groups at Cold Nose Lodge.
Rayne is also involved with the local business community. She is a member of BNI and the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
She also holds memberships in the Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians, Behavior Education Network, and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
John joined the lodge staff in December 2009, and became assistant manager in November 2010. He received his BA in German with a music minor from Jacksonville State University in Alabama.
After a 20 year career as a restaurant manager and owner, John signed up for the Canine Training and Management Program at Kutztown University and decided to dedicate his career to dogs. He teaches Puppy Kindergarten, Day School, Boarding School, and is the assistant instructor for Reactive Dogs.
John believes an important part of having dogs in your life is that you "need to find the right dog for your life."
John's family raised Dachshunds his entire life. He currently has one Dachshund named Schroeder, and a Cairn Terrier named Seamus. In his spare time, John raises parrots, weaves and makes candles.
Erin has been working at the lodge since we opened in October 2008 but has been training with Rayne
since January 2006, teaching puppy kindergarten and elementary school. Erin attended the veterinary
technician program at Manor College. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and is an AKC-CGC Evaluator.
Erin's hope is to educate people that all dogs, no matter what the breed, have potential to be great dogs. They just need the proper training. Erin volunteers for Sunrays Pit Bull Rescue training dogs in their foster care.
When Erin is not working, she is spending time with her husband, reading training books, and keeping her three crazy dogs (and probably one foster dog) busy!
Kelly joined the lodge when we opened in October 2008, working mostly on the weekends but can also be found at the lodge during special social events.
When not at the lodge, Kelly works full time in Bethlehem as a Product Manager for a Preservation Microfilming company. Kelly grew up around dogs, mostly Dobermans all her life, assisting her Mom with breeding and training. As a youth Kelly attended obedience classes at Kromerhaus Kennels and participated in basic obedience shows at Ag Hall. Kelly has a deep devotion to the German Shorthaired Pointer breed and has recently joined the German Shorthair Pointer Club of America and offered to volunteer for the German Shorthair Pointer Rescue of Pennsylvania.
Kelly’s hobbies include being a Mom to two boys (one proudly serving in Afghanistan), camping and spending time with her dogs. Kelly believes “a house isn’t a home without a dog.”
Lori has been working at the lodge since February 2009 teaching puppy kindergarten classes. She is a graduate of Kutztown University's Canine Training and Management Program, as well as their
Canine Behavior Program. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and is an AKC-CGC Evaluator. Lori believes that early training and socialization results in a happier and better behaved dog. It also gives a dog a better chance at staying in a home for life.
When Lori is not working, she spends time with her husband and three children, learning as much as possible about training, and hanging out with her two dogs and her cat Jack.
Lori also helps former puppy mill dogs, their owners, fosters, rescue groups and their future owners.
Teila has been with the lodge since August 2009, and we feel lucky to have her. She has been training our foster dogs, taking them to class and even getting one through CGC class and testing. :)
She is a student with Penn Foster and our assistant instructor for Puppy Kindergarten class.

Kathy joined the lodge in May 2010, but her entire life has been focused on animals. As a teen, she had a boa constrictor, horse, chickens, ducks, cats, and dogs. Her love of animals followed through her two boys, who brought home birds, iguanas, and hamsters for her to care for. The family adopted a border collie who had a rough start in life. Through love and training, Kathy was able to turn her into a wonderful family member. Kathy began training Luke, her German Shorthaired Pointer, for field work with NAVHDA at 8 weeks of age. She loves to brag about him - he walked away with a perfect score and a Prize 1.
Kathy has worked as a vet assistant, veterinary receptionist, surgery scheduler for veterinary hospitals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She has also worked as an EMT, taught sign language to local rescue squads and police departments.
When not working at the lodge, Kathy crochets baby blankets, hats, and booties to donate to local hospitals. She also loves to garden, scrapbook (including a CNL book coming soon!) and go for walks with Luke, Tucker (former CNL foster dog) and her husband, Paul. Kathy says, "If everyone would share their love and homes with a dog, it would be a much better world."
Tara joined the lodge staff in November 2010. She has an extensive background with dogs, especially in boarding and grooming. We are thrilled to have her as part of the lodge family.
Leigh has been a part of the lodge staff since April 2010. She is a graduate of Emmaus High School and currently attends LCCC. She plans to be a veterinary technician, and hopes to one day work in a zoo.
She lives in Alburtis with her family and her own personal zoo - 1 dog, 3 cats, 4 rats, 1 bird, and fish.
Leigh is also a dance and baton instructor, and has been dancing for over 16 years. She is "Lady of the Flame" and twirls a fire baton in the annual Lockridge May Day festival.
Mallory joined the lodge staff in May 2011. She attended Kutztown University and has a veterinary technician degree from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to the lodge, Mallory also worked for a local animal shelter, and as a dog walker/pet sitter.
She played soccer for 18 years.
She dreams of one day owning her own wildlife rehabilitation center.
Summer became a part of the lodge in august 2010, but first met us through puppy kindergarten with her own dog, Sasha. She currently studies at LCCC. Summer loves being around any animal with fur.
She enjoys being part of the lodge staff because she is involved with taking care of dogs. She has learned so many new facts about dogs and is still learning. Summer plans to go to school to be a teacher but would still like to be a part of helping animals and volunteering at an animal rescue in her free time.
Chelsea officially joined the lodge staff in July 2010 but has been helping us out through a school program since September 2009.
She is great with all animals, but especially with dogs and horses. Prior to her position at the lodge, Chelsea worked with horses at a local farm and volunteered with dogs at another dog daycare.
She would like to be a groomer one day.
